Sonic 3 Prototype - Placeholder Knuckles/Red Sonic

On the 6th of August in 2012 a post was created on the Sonic Stadium forum with the title 'Was Knuckles a red Sonic in the prototype of Sonic 3? Probably...' The user 'Oblivionthehog' shared photos from a Portugal magazine 'Maxi Consolas' about Sonic 3 which depict a red Sonic. People started to speculate it might be an early prototype since the photos in question featured Sonic 2 sprites and the red Sonic could've been just a placeholder for Knuckles. Oblivionthehog was asked to provide better quality photos due to some people's suspect about it being fake. The page numbers in some photos which Oblivionthehog uploaded disappeared making the other users realize the photos were edited and the whole thing was made up. In the end Oblivionthehog admitted it was just a hoax he created.
